Print Plus is a browser extension for Chrome and Safari that allows you to print what you select from web pages.
Click the Print Plus button, select relevant content sections (multiple clicks on the same block will expand the selection) and click on Print. Save ink and paper and print readable documents without unwanted page sections.

I am a relatively new Mac (and Safari) user, and a friend pointed me to this product. However, it is not exactly what I want… I want to have the ability to highlight text (like a yellow highlighter) and have the page print with the highlighted text.
Is this possible? If so, how?
I used to do it with Internet Explorer v5, but they removed this function and I have not seen it since.
Hello Paul!
this is not currently possible, but we’ll consider adding it in a future version or a different extension!
thanks!
I was very excited to read a recent review recommending this extension ..
I am using Safari 5.0.5 and all the latest OS on my iMac. NO problems whatsoever with Safari otherwise.
When I installed and tried to use this extension it simply doesn’t work.
I can click on the printplus icon ok.
I mouse over the site (e.g. New York Times main page) but see yellow boxes that don’t coincide at all with articles or images or anything.
I chose one by clicking and it all shades yellow, as expected, and then go to print, with command-P. But there is no correlation between what it prints and what I select.
I can forward screen snaps if you want but it is very disappointing that it doesn’t work..
Howard
Hello Howard,
is this still happening with the latest version of safari (5.1) and print plus (please verify your extensions get updated) ?
If yes, indeed if you could tell us at least on which website this happens we’ll try to identify the issue.
Thanks!
I have MacOS 10.6.8, Safari 5.0.5.
When I click the Print Plus button, the top menu appears and I select the field to print; but when I then click (your) Print button on your toolbar, nothing happens. The printer shows as ready in the Print Queue, but no job appears.
Are there any known conflicts? I have installed AdBlock, ClickToFlash, A Cleaner YouTube, Google Search Cleanup, Facebook Improved and Facebook Cleaner, MacRumorsMinimal and comicSansBeGone.
Hi Greg
sorry we had a bug on last version. We pushed a new release that fixes the pb.
Can you please reinstall the extension or just go to Preferences > Extensions > Updates and accept the extension update.
Thx.
It would be nice to have a way to *reduce* the selection or *undo* the last expansion. Sometimes one selects a bit too much and at present the only remedy appears to be to cancel and start over.
It’s a nice suggestion. We’ve started with a minimal interface but this is definitely on our way for the next version… thx for your feedback.
Do you have to have a printer attached to the computer to use this extension on Safari 5.0.3? I highlighted after clicking print plus button, then clicked print, but it did nothing. I do not have a printer attached to my laptop, but print through an airport wireless method with the printer in another room. Does that “disable” the ability to use this?
Donna, you don’t necessarily have to attach a printer while using Print Plus. Have you checked your browser does not block popup windows ?
thanks for the comments, helped me find the print bar
love the app!
I’m glad Mary’s comment made it through moderation and garnered your thanks — my comment offering the same info six days earler is still “awaiting moderation” one month later. Sigh.
sorry for that! it must have gone lost in some spam filters, apologies and thanks!
I’ve got it! when it still didn’t work after unblocking pop ups I went to “View” on Safari toolbar and selected a new option…”show print selection bar” and now it works great!
Thanks a lot Mary! We’ll definitely add this hint to our documentation!
OK I tried disabling “Block Pop-up windows” but it made no difference. I get the toolbar momentarily when Print Plus is installed (via Safari Extensions gallery), then it disappears and is never seen again.
For good measure I also completely quit and relaunched Safari, disabled FlashBlocker and any other Extension that I thought might conflict with Print Plus… but all to no avail – it just doesn’t work for me.
FWIW “Tab Reloader” and “Shortly” extensions also both create a toolbar at the top of the page but work fine with current Safari setup. Running Safari 5.0.3 and OS X 10.6.5 with all latest updates and patches.
This is totally broken – at least under Safari 5.0.3 it seems to me to be…
When I open a new page, I momentarily see the print plus bar (with PRINT and CANCEL buttons), then it disappears. Can’t bring it back no way no how.
Clicking the Print+ button starts the cool highlighting thing but *there is no top bar* to print or cancel. Only way to cancel is to reload the page. Nice idea but no useful function in my experience. Does it need an update?
OK, I haven’t completely restarted Safari yet (I have lots of useful windows open) but in any case, extensions shouldn’t need a quit and restart, surely?
Have you tried to disable the “Block pop-up windows” option ? Some of our users say the top bar does not appear when this option is enabled… Please let me know.
@ admin: I have had some troubles with Print Plus, since the top bar was not appearing when I clicked on the PP button.
Then, I found out that this top bar only appears when the “Block Pop-Up Windows” option is NOT activated (in the “Safari” menu, Safari 5.0.2).
Maybe you could put this warning in the extension instructions? Just a suggestion…
Roberto
Thanks for your feedback Roberto, we will work on that pb and add this to the instructions.
@Fabio: when clicking on the Print Plus button you should see a top bar appearing with “Print” and “Cancel” buttons. Click on Print in this top bar, don’t use your File>Print that will indeed print the whole page.
I tried to print, but im to stupid… how do i print only a selected part? i can select, thats no problem, but when i try to print, my printer wants to print everything… could you explain where i have to “print”?
thx
Print Plus:
1) Is this the correct workflow?
Press Print Plus icon====>Select text/frame====>File====>Print
2) If so, what might be some of the possible reasons why it is not working for me?
Many thanks
Abe, see my last comment in reply to Fabio
i got it already.
disregard my previous comment. thanks!
I tried it, but still nothing happened.
Here’s what I did, click the Print Plus icon to be able to select what I want, then there’s no “Print” tab anywhere, so i just clicked the icon again.
Is there supposed to be a “Print” button aside from the Print Plus icon?
What a superb idea, and a great tool – BUT it took me a while to get the hang of it… Sometimes a second click was needed of the button, sometimes the first click (in Safari) did it.
And to cancel it, the only way I can find is to reload the page… or if I print the page, will that also do it? Certainly Choosing Print > Cancel didnt work.
But perhaps after I have restarted Safari all will be well? THanks for the tool. b
After installing the extension I went to the following website: http://we.entheos.me/
and selected the tiny little box in the upper right that says “sign up.” The little box was orange, and nothing else was.
When I went to print, there was a 16 page document!
I have tried the extension on many pages and always get a lot of superfluous links that I did not select.
I’m using Safari 5.0.2 and OSX 10.6.4
Any suggestions appreciated.
Alexander, which Print button do you use after selecting, the File>Print button or our “Print” button that appears in the top bar (close to “Cancel” button). If you use the later one it should work fine.
when i double-click it highlights everything. i can’t print the selected parts only.
Print Plus works by clicking the “Print” browser icon, not by double-clicking… Can you please confirm you tried that, thx.
